Basic instructions for using the new world of Birmans Data base

 After your Login has been accepted use your user name and password to enter the site

 You have now logged in to the Main Menu

Click on cats you will find this in the side menu; this opens the cat search page.

From the Cat Search page type in the cattery name you want to look at followed by asterisk * The * is most important for doing global searches.

 An example *Chosenhill* will bring up list of every cat in my cattery. *cho* does an alternative search.

 click on the name of cat you want to look at.

The pedigree will be displayed.

Along the top of the pedigree are a set of white drop down menus and above those a set of links that are coloured blue these change to purple when you have used them. Some like photo’s are not set up yet.

You choose what you want to see and the way it is displayed using any of the above options.

To go back to a previous screen, click on the left, green back arrow at the top of the page.

To move forward to a screen you have already viewed click on the right, green forward arrow.

Here is an example of an alternative search

With this one you can look for different breeds of cat in the database for example. Go back to CAT in the side menu to open the Cat Search page.

Type *EMS CODE* into the search line and a list of all the breeds of cats in the data base will appear.

Printing pedigrees for your own use is OK. However these pedigrees cannot not be used in their original format in any web site.

 Sending the URL http:\\ links for the relevant pedigrees for parents of kittens you want us to add should work OK.

Data of any kind can only be viewed if you have “hit” credits please to notify us if you run out.

HOW TO DO TRIAL MATINGS

Go to CATS on the left hand menu

Type in the name of the MALE click on search

CLICK ON THE NUMBER on the left and the male will appear

 Set the white boxes to:

 DON’T’INCLUDE SELF

 5 GENS

NOT HIGHLIGHTED

NAME ONLY

DEFAULT LAYOUT

CLICK ON TRIAL MATING

Type in the name of the FEMALE click on search

CLICK ON THE NUMBER on the left and the female will appear

The trial mating pedigree is complete and you can view it in many different ways by clicking the boxes.

THERE VARIOUS WAYS TO SEND A PEDIGREE

Copy aCopy & Paste the URL from the top of the web page into an email as in this example

2                     Go to  File send then Page by email this will send  pedigree.

3                   Go to file then send the link this will do the same thing as option 1 however some computers may       have a problem with security
