ABOUT WORLD OF BIRMANS

This site is non profit making, it is provided for the benefit of the Birman, the Breeders who breed them and anyone with an interest in the Birman. 

There many people who do not have the time to produce large databases for the ancestry of their cats. The World of Birmans database is a resource that can be used in conjunction with Birman pedigrees  to trace the ancestors and find other useful information.

Ted and I started collecting pedigree data in 1996 and we wanted to share it with everyone and so the World of Birmans database was launched in 2007.

We purchased the Pedserve program and with the help of Lee we designed the layouts and formulas to display the data.

The data is not owned by anyone, it has come from many sources over the years, some from donated databases, some from information in the public domain. However a special thank you  must go to all those who are donating their pedigrees and pictures and allowing  them to be used on World of Birmans.

Apart from adding to the database we are gathering together old articles from around the world and publishing them on the collection pages. If you can help with this project please send items to

We are particularly interested in information about when the first Birmans arrived in your countries and who they were.
